Making Dining Out Easier

We love a good dinner date out. The whole getting dressed, dinner with a view, taking pictures of our food(yes, Kenzie is just like her mama), ordering the cutest cocktails +drinks—we love the whole dining out experience. I put together my “making dining out with kids easier” thoughts and tips together for you. I swear by these tips.

TIPS FOR DINING OUT WITH KIDS:

RESERVATIONS +TIME IS EVERYTHING

Try not to make your reservations too late. This way, the kids aren’t fighting sleep and irritable.

LET THE KIDS ORDER A SPECIAL (NON-ALCOHOLIC OF COURSE) DRINK

When mama orders her glass of wine or super cute cocktail, I let the kids order a special drink as well. This is more so Kenzie’s thing—Nas usually doesn’t care lol. It could be as simple as asking the waitress to put a strawberry or lemon peel in the kids lemonade.

LET THE KIDS ORDER THEIR MEAL

It adds to the whole dining experience. My kids love looking/reading the menu and ordering their own food. It’s also teaching them more independence, and speaking for themselves.

BRING A BOOK OR IPAD

While the food is cooking, reading a book or playing a game/reading/coloring on the iPad will keep those little hands busy. The kids aren’t antsy. Trust me it works.

LET THE KIDS PICK A DESSERT FOR THE TABLE TO SHARE

End your dinner on a sweet note. Mamas really not a sweets person, but I let the kids enjoy while out. It’s always a good idea to share a dessert.

HAVE THE KIDS TIP THE SERVER

My kids know tipping is saying “thank you” for a great dining experience. Give them a few dollars to add to the check/receipt.
