My Top Time-Saving Systems

Mom life! It gets messy, overwhelming and a bit chaotic at times. I have two littles, running businesses, designing, maintaining the household, the littles extracurricular activities, errands…WHEW...and the list goes on. We could all use a few extra hours, right? I think I’ve pretty much mastered saving a few extra hours in my week. These simple tasks work like magic.

For my own sanity I use these time-saving tips and tricks:

Use your Sunday’s to prepare for the rest of the week

Heavy grocery shopping, meal prep, wash your heavy loads, write down your priorities for each day, etc. This way you have a general idea of what your coming week looks like,  you’re prepared and not scattered.

Prepare the night before

I like to plan, pack and set out the littles outfits, toddler bags, dry snacks for the day, etc. This way I have fewer things to think about, I’m not rushing and saves me so much time.

Take advantage of apps, especially banking/finance

Banking apps were probably the best thing invented. I can do just about everything through the app, without having to physically go to my bank.

Set your bills to auto pay

One less thing you have to worry about, and you know your bills will always be payed on time.

Shop online

Don’t get me wrong, I love to shop in store(alone) but I do most of my shopping online. Two toddlers...in the mall...trying to take my time in the store...with hundreds of other people...no bueno. I find it much easier to get my shopping done online and shipped to me.

Say no

I say this so much, but it really sets boundaries/helps me a lot. Say no to anything that is not a priority, will drain you, overwhelm you or put your schedule/time into overload.

Get the littles to help

Yup! Put them to work. Give your little a task(cleaning up, setting the table, etc)

Establish routines

I’m a “routine/planner” mom. I function better with a schedule and/or plan. Or at least an overall idea of how my day will go. Some things change, but some are a habit now. Like, our mornings, activity hour, lunch, learning hour, etc. It helps our days run smoother.

Take advantage of your commute

Use long car rides/being stuck in traffic to your advantage. Listen to that e-book, that audio/video class, that motivational speaker.
