Homeschooling Tools
Week two of homeschool, complete! We’re loving everything about it thus far, the flexibility, the tailored learning, the freedom to add some of our favorite classes and courses, and more. I wanted to share some update’s on our homeschooling, some tools and apps we’ve been using, and some fun activities we’ve been into.
Our days have been flowing pretty well(I thought it would be more adjusting to get used to). I get up about an hour or so before the kids. This way, I get to have my morning quiet tea time, and prepare for the kids morning routine, and our day gets started.
Use my freebie, here to keep your days organized, focused and on task.
TOP TOOLS +APPS WE’VE BEEN USING SO FAR:
Education.com. As a homeschool mom(wow! I’m literally a homeschool mom lol) this site comes in handy. They have worksheets, activities, games, exercises, stories, songs, and lesson plans, for grades pre-k through 8th. Subjects such as math, science, reading, social studies, etc. You can even keep track of the kids progress and completed work.
Cleverlearner.com. A great website for free(printable’s) early learning activities and worksheets. Everything from crafts, puzzles, numbers, shapes and more.
YouTube Kids. I’m sure you mamas are familiar. The kids love YouTube lol. I tailor the kids videos/screen time to a lot of learning/educational media. Like different languages, how things work(ex.the water cycle), exercises, etc.
Nick Jr app. Great for free time. All the kid’s favorite characters. Shows, games(racing, dress-up), activities (creative coloring) and videos.
CLASSES +COURSES WE’RE IN:
Structured gym class. Nasir has been in a structured gym class for about two years now. They do everything from climbing, balancing, flips+tumbling, sports, zip-lining, exercise(tailored for his age), and more.
Ballet class. Mckenzie has taking a liking to ballet. She’s a few classes in and I think we’ll be at it for a while. Some benefits of ballet, social skills, confidence, physical coordination, mental strength and focus.
Swimming lessons. Both of the kids will be starting swimming lessons soon. I wanted to pick an activity they can do together. The objective is to build life skills both in and out of the water using play-based learning. The swim lessons are specifically designed to make learning and swimming fun.
SkyZone. We’ve been loving it here! Kids love it and mama(me) gotta’ keep the kids busy/burning energy. The big kids are at school, so this gives the littles more freedom to roam free.
SOME OTHER STUFF:
Journals have been a thing for us. Example, as far as literacy, keeping a separate journal for sight words, writing, reading work, etc. has been keeping us organized.
I’ve been finding super cool projects and experiments(I’ll make a blog post on this soon) on Amazon, Target, Pinterest.
If your littles like cooking like mine do, make a whole elective out of it. I incorporate learning(measurements, cooking methods, ingredients, knife skills(cute +safe kids utensils at Target).
Keep workbooks +activity books on hand. You can find them pretty much anywhere.
